Spent the time today with the grandkids at Fort Howard Park. There is nothing that they cannot do. They climb everything. They are never intimidated by challenging things. They are fearless which scares me. I am always telling them to watch what they are doing. Hold on to the rail. Watch your feet when climbing the ladders. I am very cautious with them but I do not inhibit their growth. I let them challenge themselves with difficult situations. They are not fearful of anything because they know and trust that Pop will lead them the right way and will not be far off when they meet difficult situations. Sometimes when they have problems when climbing things I give them a helping hand so that they can be successful and when they get to the top they say, “Pop, I did it.”
Isn’t that the way that God is with us? He is never too far away. He is always close by and He has already walked down the path that we will be walking on. Anything that would harm us He has removed and anything that will challenge us to grow He will leave in our way knowing what we are able to handle. That is the God that I trust in and His name is Jesus Christ.
II Timothy 1:7 KJV, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
